Performance Day! We all arrived at Mesa Verde before the students to do the last minute preparations. Then the students arrived and it was obvious they were excited but nervous. They quickly got to work putting on costumes and going over last minute lines. Then the young students began to arrive. The poetry coaches opened with Maxime's poetry song and then the Heights students took over. They did amazing, only a few flubbed their lines, but they recovered quickly and I doubt the kids noticed. The kids were responsive and seemed to enjoy the performances almost as much as the students who were perfoming the poems. During the second performance, we had alot more elementary students, and a couple more glitches. We had to do without Travis and Eric because of some disciplinary problems. But it didn't cause any major problems and the show went on. The audience was great, lots of participation and lots of laughter. Overall the first half of the semester was a huge success and students that had been previously written off by their teachers and themselves, exceeded all expectations.
